PETRONAS exploring ways to produce cheaper advanced sustainable fuel

Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) is working to make its advanced sustainable fuel (ASF) more cost-effective without compromising performance as Formula One prepares for further power-unit changes in 2027 and 2028. PETRONAS Downstream EVP and CEO Datuk Seri Sazali Hamzah said its scientists were exploring ways to reduce costs, while Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team principal Toto Wolff said the regulatory changes would require further development of the engine-and-fuel package. PETRONAS said its F1 partnership with Mercedes also helps it develop fuels, lubricants and other technologies for wider commercial use.
