1. Information we collect

Account and profile

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), optional phone number, and country. We send a one-time code to verify your email. You may add a profile photo, bio, language, interests, and similar About / Spotlight preferences.

Content you create or upload

Posts, comments, polls, surveys, videos, images, messages you send in Manarah Messenger, reports you file, and other material you submit. Public or shared content can be seen by other users according to how you publish it.

Usage and preferences

How you use the service: pages you visit, news and hub filters (outlets, countries, sports, topics), prayer-time city if you set one, saved focus topics, and similar settings. We store these so the site and apps can remember your choices.

Device and technical data

IP address, browser or WebView type, device identifiers used for push delivery, approximate time zone, and server logs needed to operate, secure, and debug the service.

Communications

Emails we send you (verification codes, service notices) and messages you send to us (for example channel requests to admin@manarah.community).

2. How we use information

• Create and keep your account signed in (including on the phone apps).
• Show news, hubs, videos, polls, surveys, and other features you use.
• Measure how the iOS and Android apps are used (Firebase Analytics), so we can improve them.
• Deliver in-app and phone notifications you enable.
• Moderate content, fight spam and abuse, and enforce our rules.
• Improve ranking, related videos, similar polls/surveys, and knowledge features.
• Contact you about the service and respond to requests.
• Comply with law and protect Blue Ember Studios LLC, users, and the public.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage that are needed to run the site and apps. We do not use third-party advertising cookies today.

• Session cookie — keeps you signed in while you browse.
• manarah_remember — a long-lived sign-in token (also copied to the app’s local storage) so you stay signed in after closing the browser or app.
• manarah_tz — your time zone so dates display in local time.
• manarah_news_prefs, manarah_hub_prefs, manarah_about_focus, manarah_ent_country — news, hub, Spotlight, and entertainment-country choices.

You can block cookies in your browser. Essential cookies are required to sign in. Signing out clears the remember token from this device.

The website also loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may process your IP address and browser data under Google’s privacy policy.

4. Notifications and the mobile apps

The iOS and Android apps are a Manarah WebView (Capacitor) of manarah.community plus native push. If you allow notifications, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token and send alerts (for example news headlines, replies, and similar activity). Tokens are used only to deliver those messages. You can turn notifications off in the app or in your phone settings. Uninstalling the app or signing out unregisters the token when possible.

Firebase is provided by Google. Device tokens and delivery metadata are processed by Google as described in Firebase privacy.

5. App usage analytics

The iOS and Android apps use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. This includes automatic events such as app opens and sessions, plus events we log for screens you visit (for example News, a hub, or an article), sign-in, search, opening a notification, pull-to-refresh, and opening Messenger. We send a numeric account id when you are signed in so we can see usage over time; we do not send your name, email, or phone number to Analytics. We do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA / Google Advertising ID) for this purpose.

Analytics data is processed by Google on our behalf. See Firebase privacy and Google’s privacy policy. The public website in a normal browser does not load this analytics SDK.

6. Artificial intelligence

Some features use Google Gemini (for example content-safety checks, similar poll/survey suggestions, related videos, knowledge helpers, and optional image generation for Plus users). Text or images you submit to those features may be sent to Google to return a result. Do not submit information you are not willing to process that way. Google’s use of data is described in their privacy policy and Gemini API terms.

7. How we share information

We share personal data only as needed to run Manarah:

• Other users — when you post, comment, vote, or message, according to the feature.
• Service providers — hosting, email delivery, Firebase (Cloud Messaging and Analytics), Google Gemini, and similar processors who work on our instructions.
• Telegram — if you connect Telegram, we handle the identifiers needed for that link.
• YouTube and other publishers — news and video pages may embed or link to third-party players; those sites have their own policies.
• Law and safety — if required by law, or to prevent harm, fraud, or abuse.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show third-party behavioural ads on Manarah today. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

8. Retention

We keep account and content data while your account is open. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and operations. Remember tokens expire (on the order of a year) and can be revoked when you sign out. Push tokens are removed when you unregister or the device is invalid. After you ask us to delete an account, we delete or irreversibly anonymise personal data we do not need to keep for legal, security, or dispute reasons.

9. Your choices and rights

• Update profile and notification settings while signed in.
• Sign out to clear the session and remember token on that device.
• Disable push notifications on the device.
• Request access, correction, or deletion of your account by emailing admin@manarah.community from the address on the account. We may need to verify it is you.

Depending on where you live (including the UAE and other applicable laws), you may have further rights to object or restrict certain processing. We will respond within a reasonable period.

10. Children

Manarah is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Child sexual abuse and exploitation are prohibited. Our standards and how to report a concern in the app are published at Child safety standards.

11. Security

We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, HTTP-only session cookies where applicable, access controls on the server, and rate limits on sign-in and sign-up. No online service is completely secure. Please use a strong unique password.

12. International processing

Blue Ember Studios LLC is based in the UAE. Hosting, email, Firebase, and Gemini may process data in other countries (including the United States). If you use Manarah from another country, you understand that your information may be transferred to and stored in those locations.

13. Changes

We may update this policy as Manarah grows (for example payments, ads, or new apps). We will post the new version at this URL and change the “Last updated” date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
