Actor Rajesh Sharma shares his journey of overcoming a severe diabetic foot infection and cellulitis at Manipal Hospital Dhakuria. With poorly controlled diabetes and hypertension, he developed high fever, severe leg swelling and painful blisters. His blood sugar was above 500 mg/dL, and despite intensive antibiotics, the infection progressed into the underlying muscles, putting his limb at serious risk. An MRI revealed the extent of the infection, following which Dr. Avijit Bhattacharya and the medical team performed a fasciotomy to relieve tissue pressure, control the infection and help protect the limb. His recovery continued with antibiotics, wound care, regular dressings and close monitoring.
