Bomb threat at Shree Somnath Temple in Gir Somnath, Gujarat; security checks underway

Security checks are underway after a bomb threat was received at the Shree Somnath Temple in Gir Somnath, Gujarat. DYSP, Gir Somnath, Mahadev Chaudhary, said, '\The police received an email this morning containing a threat to blow up the Somnath Temple. Acting on the information and guidance of our senior officers, the entire police force was put on alert, and we continue to operate in a high-alert mode. We already have dedicated police personnel for temple security working round the clock every day. Even on normal days, every visitor undergoes two-layer frisking and security checks; we do not allow any electronic gadgets or similar items inside the temple complex. This two-layer screening process is always in place. Given today's situation, we have heightened our alert level. We have mobilised other units, such as the District LCB (Local Crime Branch), Special Operations Group (SOG), BDDS (Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad), and QRT (Quick Response Team), to conduct a thorough search of the entire temple complex. The BDDS has searched the premises, and no suspicious objects or items have been found.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Exclusive content, special privileges & more – Subscribe to ThePrint for Special benefits: https://tinyurl.com/4ymm9wh5 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Connect with ThePrint » Subscribe to ThePrint: https://tinyurl.com/4ymm9wh5 » Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/3nCMpht » Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theprintindia » Tweet us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/theprintindia » Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theprintindia » Find us on LinkedIn : https://www.linkedin.com/company/theprint » Subscribe to ThePrint on Telegram: https://t.me/ThePrintIndia » Find us on Spotify: https://spoti.fi/2NMVlnB » Find us on Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3pEOta8
