CineNow set to finance films in India. It’s received 3,000 scripts already

CineNow is a film tech platform designed to marry finance capital with technology and provides the funding mechanism for the film industry. But it’s not just a film fund or a financier, it's designed to be a complete ecosystem sustainable beyond a typical film's life cycle. At CineNow, everyone from established producers to independent filmmakers can seek financing from this platform. For the first phase, CineNow is going ahead with an investment of up to Rs 500 crore and its initial backers fall into three institutional categories: venture capitalists, hedge funds and family offices. When a filmmaker submits his script(s) on CineNow’s portal, it first enters the reading room where best of the best scripts are shortlisted, manually. Rejected scripts are re-scanned through an AI portal to ensure viable, commercially strong projects are not accidentally overlooked during manual reviews. During this process, filmmakers’ names are not mentioned to avoid bias. It’s only at the investment table, the names are pulled out.
