Nepal Tragedy: Can Ancient Tamil Tinai Philosophy Show Humanity a Way Forward?

The Nepal tragedy raises a larger question: Is humanity’s path forward more industrialisation—or a return to harmony with nature? Prof Nirmal Selvamony, author of Tinai Philosophy: The Indigenous Lifeway for the Anthropocene, says the answer may lie in an ancient Tamil philosophy of harmonious coexistence. Drawing from Tholkappiam and early Tamil Sangam literature, he explains how Tinai shaped human relationships with other beings and offers lessons for the climate crisis. He discusses Kaatchi or vision, the dangers of mega-technology and why humanity needs a new epoch - what he calls Neotinaisene - to move beyond the Anthropocene. Selvamony argues Tinai can take humanity forward, not backward. #NepalTragedy #Nepal #TinaiPhilosophy #NirmalSelvamony #TamilPhilosophy #Tholkappiam #SangamLiterature #Anthropocene #Neotinaisene #ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis #HarmonyWithNature #IndigenousPhilosophy #NDTVDigitalOriginals $MetaTags$1#Digital Original2#News4#Megha Murty$MetaTags$ About NDTV (English news channel): NDTV is India's Most-Trusted News Broadcaster with the latest updates in news, sports, entertainment and much more from within India and around the world.
