🍝 Emilia-Romagna Food & Travel Guide: 3 Days in Bologna, Parma & Beyond | Best Things to Do! 🇮🇹
🇮🇹 Introduction: Food, Views & Italian Culture in Emilia-Romagna
We’re back in Italy—this time exploring the culinary heartland of Emilia-Romagna! Join us for three delicious days as we eat, drink, explore, and travel through Bologna, Forlimpopoli, Parma, and more. This trip is all about Italian food experiences, iconic landmarks, hands-on adventures, and local culture.
🏰 Bologna: Climbing Torre Prendiparte & Rainy Day Views
Our adventure begins in Bologna, where we braved the rain and climbed the medieval Torre Prendiparte. After twelve stories of rickety wooden stairs, we were rewarded with spectacular city views—even in the rain! Fun fact: you can actually stay in the tower for a unique overnight experience.
🍝 Pasta Cooking in Forlimpopoli: Channeling Pellegrino Artusi
Next, we headed to Forlimpopoli, the hometown of Pellegrino Artusi, father of Italian home cooking. We joined a hands-on pasta making class—mixing, kneading, and shaping our own dough before sitting down to enjoy a delicious lunch made with our hard work. The compliments in the kitchen made it extra special!
🍷 Vineyard & Wine Tasting at La Palazza
In the afternoon, we toured La Palazza, a charming vineyard. Despite the rain, we savored wine tastings and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. The evening was spent at an agriturismo—a rural farmhouse stay—where peace, vineyards, and the friendliest farm dog greeted us.
🥄 Balsamic Vinegar Tradition at Acetaia di Giorgio
The next morning brought a balsamic vinegar tasting at Acetaia di Giorgio. We sampled rich, aged vinegars—so much more flavorful than anything we’d tried before! Learning about the craft and tradition behind real balsamic vinegar was a highlight.
🧀 Lunch at Antica Corte Pallavicina & Parma’s Cheese Heaven
We lunched in style at the historic Antica Corte Pallavicina Relais, surrounded by ancient castle walls and tunnels of hanging ham. Our feast included plates of prosciutto, salami, cheeses, and sparkling Frizzante Rosso served in a classic cup. Later, we toured a dairy farm to witness the making of authentic Parmigiano-Reggiano and marveled at endless wheels of cheese.
🚗 Enzo Ferrari Museum: Fast Cars & Italian Gelato
A trip to Emilia-Romagna wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Enzo Ferrari Museum. We admired the engine-shaped building, explored classic cars, and cooled off with mango “paradiso” gelato. Even if you’re not a car enthusiast, seeing a Ferrari up close is unforgettable!
🍕 Final Stop: Classic Italian Pizza in Bologna
Before saying goodbye to Italy, we squeezed in one last margherita pizza at the airport in Bologna. There’s simply no pizza like the real deal in Italy, and we knew we wouldn’t find anything as good back in Asia!
💬 Final Thoughts: Why Emilia-Romagna Is a Must for Foodies & Travelers
From medieval towers and vineyard tastings to pasta workshops and cheese factories, our three days in Emilia-Romagna were pure Italian bliss. If you’re a fan of culture, food, and authentic travel experiences, add this region to your list!
