Description
Having visited the Korean Folk Village (한국 민속촌) several years ago when we first met each other it was like a trip down memory lane to revisit again almost five years later. The Korean Folk Village (韓國 民俗村) is located in Yongin and it is basically a living museum (Hanguk Minsokchon) paying homage to Korean culture and lifestyle from the Joseon dynasty. You can eat traditional Korean foods like yeot (엿) and kimchijeon (김치전) and watch peformances like equestrian tricks, Korean farmer's dance and a traditional Korean.

Visiting the Korean Folk Village (한국 민속촌 - 韓國 民俗村) and eating Yeot (엿) and Kimchijeon (김치전) travel food video transcript:
Well good afternoon. Today we're visiting the Korean Folk Village (한국 민속촌) in my old neighborhood. We're in Yongin (용인). So it is good to be back. Yeah, this is actually one of the first places we ever went on a date together if you remember way back when. Way back in the day. And I think we put out an old video like a long-time ago on our channel and it is pretty bad but we're coming back again because it is a place that we really like and it is the perfect time of year. We're here in the fall. Yeah. And we can't wait to just kind of go around and show you what it is all about. Yeah, and this place is kind of like a living museum so you can walk around and see what life in Korea was like centuries ago. So it should be fun. I'm excited for this. Let's do it.
It is very very delicious. Gamsahamnida (고맙습니다). Thank you. Have a good time.
So ever since we arrived at the Korean Folk Village (韓國 民俗村) we've been looking for this special candy. We finally found it. It is called Yeot (엿). And it is Korean rice sticky rice taffy. It looks just like this. It has got like a powder on the outside. It is so good. It is so sweet. Really chewy. It takes a long time to chew in your mouth. Oh, it is so tasty. I haven't had this in like four or five years.
Okay, so aside from wandering around the Folk Village (Minsok Village) they also put on a lot of different performances throughout the day. Yeah, there is the equestrian performance, there is a Korean folk farmer's performance and also there is a traditional wedding so we're going to try and check all three out. Yeah, I'm most excited about the Korean wedding. I want to see that one. And for me it is the equestrian tricks for sure.
So we were feeling a little bit peckish after all that walking around so we headed over to the marketplace and it turns out this is like an outdoors food court so we've ordered some Kimchijeon (김치전). This is my fermented spicy cabbage pancake and it looks amazing. I'm going to cut it with my chopsticks.
I get the bigger half. Oh, and aside from that we're also having Sikhye (식혜) which is like a rice juice right? Yeah, it is basically like a sweet rice juice. It is so tasty. I've been working on that while you getting the jeon (전). I know. Look at how much is left. How generous.
Alright, let's try the jeon (전).
So we already had lunch but you can never had too much jeon (전) in your life so why not right?
What do you think? Wow. I love it. It is so good. Oh yeah. You know what else I was impressed with?
The price is pretty reasonable. Like considering we're at a tourist attraction they're not trying to rip you off here. No, I think they get such a high volume of people every day I think they just keep the prices reasonable and that is awesome. It is great for anyone who visits.
We're going through a gourd tunnel. We don't get to do this everyday.
So Sam we are going to make a wish and tie it on this rock behind us.
So the day is over. We spent about half of the day here exploring the village (Hanguk Minsokchon). What did you think? What is it like coming back four years later? I mean it was still cool but at the same time we did feel a bit older. It is kind of funny how coming back to a familiar place four of five years later makes you feel. Very old. But I still recommend coming though it is pretty cool. And if you come on the weekend it is usually not as busy. If you come early in the morning or late afternoon that is probably your best bet.
