Join us as we get a haircut in India experience by visiting a local Indian barber where we receive a hair cut, wet beard shave and Indian head massage in Kolkata, India. As foreigners traveling in India for nearly a month my Dad and I both thought it would be a good idea to have a nice haircut, shave and massage before heading back home to Canada. We found our Indian barber just a short distance from our hotel down an alley off of Sudder Street in Kolkata (কলকাতা). He was kind enough to let us film our entire experience getting a haircut, beard shave and head and body massage so we tipped him generously. Compared t other barbers he was skilled and efficient. We'd definitely go back again to have a haircut in Calcutta (কলকাতা) if we get a chance. As a foreigner traveling in India, if you're wondering what it is like to experience a haircut in India we highly recommend it. Not only is it affordable but you'll find Indian barbers highly skilled and professional. 💈 Kolkata Barber Shop Experience: Haircut, Shave & Massage on Our Last Day in India! 🇮🇳✂️ ✈️ Saying Goodbye to India with a Fresh Look Today marks our last day in India, and we’re wrapping up our adventure in Kolkata (কলকাতা). As we prepare to return home, we realize we’re both looking a bit scruffy—definitely in need of a haircut and shave before our flights back to Canada. There’s no better way to end a trip than with a classic local grooming experience! 🕵️‍♂️ Searching for a Kolkata Barber We start our mission on Sudder Street, the area where we’re staying, but after searching around, we don’t have much luck finding a barber shop. Eventually, we turn down Hertford Lane and spot a little shop. We ask the barber if we can both get a shave and haircut—and also if we can film the experience. He welcomes us in with a big yes! 💇 The Indian Haircut and Shave Experience Inside, it’s time for a much-needed transformation. The process begins with a trim—“a little bit off the top”—and the clippers and scissors get to work. The experience is more than just a quick cut: as we sit in the chair, we realize how much tension has built up after weeks of travel, especially from all those long Indian train rides. The barber not only shapes up our hair and gives us a clean shave, but follows it up with an unexpected treat: a head and upper body massage. The relaxation is instant, and the stress melts away. 💸 Insane Value for a Skilled Service All of this—haircut, shave, and massage—comes to just 240 Rupees (about 3 or 4 US dollars total)! The value is simply incredible, especially compared to what you’d pay back home in Canada. We’re so impressed with the barber’s skill and hospitality that we leave a generous tip of over 150 Rupees to show our appreciation. 😎 Ready for Home: Fresh, Clean & Relaxed After our Kolkata barber shop visit, we’re both feeling refreshed and looking sharp—no more scruffy travelers! With our hair tidy and faces clean-shaven, we’re more than ready to face immigration back in Canada.
