Bourdain Finds Comfort in the Flavors of Vietnam's Streets | Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown
Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown ·
Description
Houston moves at its own pace, and nowhere is that clearer than in its slab car culture. From candy paint and swinging elbow rims to the chopped-and-screwed sound born on these streets, Anthony rides along with Houston musician Slim Thug and his crew at McGregor Park, then heads to Acres Homes for legendary Texas barbecue with a family that's been smoking meat for generations.
From there, Anthony's journey shifts to the Gulf Coast town of Palacios, home to a Vietnamese shrimping community that found a new life in America after the fall of Saigon, and finally to Vietnam itself, where floating fishing villages on Halong Bay give way to the bustling streets of Hanoi, where street food, market smells, and an unexpected bowl of bún chả bring Anthony face-to-face with the connections between two very different worlds.
A story about food, family, migration, and the things that connect us no matter where we call home.
