It’s a bit heavy at 249 grams, but it’s okay, considering you get a bigger battery and a much bigger vapour chamber. The biggest upgrade is the cameras. There’s now a variable aperture in the main camera, and it goes from f/1.48 to f/4.0 automatically. So, in low light photos, the camera blades opens up fully, and in well lit scenes, it closes up. So, ideally, it should take better low light photos than the 17 pro ma. The rest of the cameras are the same as last year, so no changes there. The camera app now gets Pro-level controls, including a histogram and shutter speed control, which is nice. Plus, there’s new photographic styles along with a beauty mode, Timelapse video supports 4K Dolby Vision, and Cinematic mode can shoot in 4K 60fps. Although all of these are software features, none of them will be coming to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Well played, Apple! The Dynamic Island is a bit smaller, because Apple has moved the FaceID camera under the display. It’s actually good, but you can notice it sometimes. And once you see it, you literally cannot un-see it. The 18 Pro Max supports 54W wired charging, which takes the phone to 50% in around 15 minutes. That’s about 5 minutes faster than the 17 Pro Max. For a full charge, it’ll be a difference of 15-20 minutes. Then there’s the performance. The A20 Pro scores are significantly better than the A19 Pro, while also running cooler, thanks to the 3x bigger vapour chamber. Overall, iPhone 18 Pro Max does bring some good upgrades over 17 Pro Max, like the battery, the charging, and a faster processor, but for that, you’ll have to pay 30,000 extra. If you’re okay with that, go ahead, buy the iPhone 18 Pro Max, but if not, 17 Pro Max still makes a lot of sense, if, it’s available.. because officially, Apple has discontinued it!
