Description
The opening days of Russell Brand’s rape trial heard the comedian described as “ruthless, calculated and manipulative”, driven by an “indiscriminate and voracious” desire for sex.
Jurors at Southwark Crown Court were told that the actor could be “funny, charming, likeable when he wanted something” before becoming “demanding, entitled – a flirt with a huge sexual appetite”.
Brand, 51, is facing seven charges, including rape and sexual assault against six different women between 1999 and 2009. He denies all the charges and has pleaded not guilty.
Daisy Graham-Brown, The Telegraph' Senior News Reporter, explains the key takeaways the court heard during the trial’s opening week.
