EC Software Blocked Judges From Restoring Deleted Voters: What Went Wrong? | Indian Express Special

What happens when a judge orders a voter’s name to be restored, but the Election Commission’s own software has no mechanism to do it? In West Bengal, judicial officers appointed following Supreme Court directions to hear appeals against deletions during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) flagged serious problems with the Election Commission’s ECINet portal. Official minutes of an emergency meeting record that tribunals were unable to conduct virtual hearings, issue notices, upload evidence, provide certified copies of orders, and, most critically, restore voters whose inclusion had been ordered by a judge.
