In Singapore, 8 in 10 young singles say they want to get married, yet about half are not dating, with limited chances to meet people cited as the key reason. So where are young Singaporeans supposed to find love? Samuel, 26, is a private barbecue chef and part-time finance student at SUSS. His army friends once pooled money for his Tinder Gold, but after years on Bumble, OkCupid and Tinder, he had zero dates. So he is going offline to a mahjong dating mixer instead. We follow Samuel as he cooks us lunch, goes through his pre-date ritual (strawberry body mist included) and gets a mahjong crash course from Yu Rong, before trying his luck at the mixer. Along the way, he opens up about dating apps, his insecurities and being an "average Singaporean guy". If apps judge us by how we look while offline meetings show who we truly are, should we move away from dating apps? A special thank you to One Tile Away for welcoming us to their mahjong dating mixer and for bringing young Singaporeans together. *Timestamps:* 0:00 Preview 1:10 Meet Samuel 2:12 Why dating apps didn't work for him 3:09 Is he an average Singaporean guy? 3:49 Lunch cooked by Samuel 4:53 His pre-date ritual 6:06 Shopping for the girl of his dreams 7:31 Mahjong crash course with Yu Rong 8:33 Arriving at the mahjong mixer 10:15 Inside the mixer 12:24 How did the night go? 13:58 Did he find a match? 14:39 Dating apps vs dating mixers 16:00 Final thoughts Hosted by Qi Jia and Yu Rong Gen Z Crash Course #Singapore #genz — 👋 Welcome to Mediacorp Entertainment, your favourite channel for the latest and the best of local entertainment series in English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil.
