With Audrey under the weather but determined to travel, we pick up some cough medicine and set off for one of England’s most iconic university towns. 🍽️ Pub Food to Start the Day After arriving in Oxford, the first priority is always food. We settle into a cozy pub and order classic fish and chips (with gravy and mushy peas!), a side salad, and a proper British dessert: apple crumble with custard. Sam enjoys a refreshing IPA, while Audrey sticks with tea. 🧥 Shopping & Sweater Weather With the unpredictable UK weather, Sam grabs a varsity sweater on sale for £19—because even in August, it’s never too warm in Oxford! 🏫 Touring the University of Oxford’s Colleges Oxford is home to 38 self-governing colleges, dating back to 1096 and making it the oldest university in the English-speaking world. For just £2, we tour Trinity College—enjoying beautiful grounds nearly to ourselves (except for a minor “dodo bird” incident: stepping on the lawn is a big no-no!). 📚 Oxford Icons: Radcliffe Camera & Bodleian Library We take a quick look at Radcliffe College and the world-famous Bodleian Library, before heading to the University Church. The church’s tower offers panoramic city views, but a long line keeps us grounded this time. Still, the peaceful interior is well worth the visit. 🌊 River Life: Punting, Paddle Boats, and the Botanic Gardens Down by the river, we debate trying our hand at punting (or maybe just filming others!). Instead, we explore the Oxford Botanic Gardens (admission £5), the oldest in Great Britain and a source of inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. ☕ Afternoon Tea at The Grand Cafe When in Oxford, tea and scones are a must! We stop at The Grand Cafe, the historic site of England’s first coffee house, for fluffy scones with clotted cream and jam, plus fancy lavender and peach teas. Total cost: £12 for a tea set and extra tea. 🍫 Fudge Kitchen Indulgence We can’t resist a quick visit to the Fudge Kitchen for a slice of salted caramel fudge—rich, creamy, and totally decadent. (Sam’s verdict: “Magic in your mouth!”) 🏰 Last Stops: Oxford Castle & Museum Visit We squeeze in a peek at Oxford Castle (a Norman castle turned former prison turned hotel), and, with time to spare before the bus, enjoy a quick museum stop near the station. 📝 Final Thoughts & Travel Tips Oxford makes for a fantastic day trip from London, but with so much to see and do, an overnight stay is highly recommended if you want to dive deeper into college life, history, or riverside activities. Visit on a weekday for fewer crowds, and always make time for afternoon tea! #Oxford #DayTripFromLondon #OxfordUniversity #TravelVlog #UKTravel #BritishFood #VisitEngland 💬 Share Your Tips!
