Ex-justice Azcuna: 'Supermajority' threshold should be sustained in impeachment trial

Comment

Details

Description

Retired Supreme Court justice Adolfo Azcuna believes the voting threshold for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte should be 16 or two-thirds of all the members of the Senate, and not less or based on who are physically present at the trial.

Azcuna says the “supermajority threshold is sound constitutional design and should be sustained rather than lowered to a lesser threshold”.
