Shashi Tharoor: 'Impeachment Is The Path That We Would Take': CEC Gyanesh Kumar | Rahul Gandhi | EC
Details
In an exclusive interview with Maria Shakeel, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor criticized Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and discussed accountability mechanisms available to the opposition. Tharoor asserted that the CEC holds statutory immunity rather than constitutional protection due to legislation enacted in late 2023. Calling for the CEC's resignation, Tharoor stated, "Impeachment is the path that we would take if he doesn't have the moral clarity to fall on his sword right away." Addressing claims of selective criticism by the opposition, Tharoor highlighted voter roll discrepancies, alleging widespread filing of Form 7s to remove legitimate voters in states like Bengal and Bihar.
