India First: Opposition MPs March To Rashtrapati Bhavan Seeking CEC Gyanesh Kumar Resignation
Details
Opposition leaders from the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Mamata Banerjee, staged a march from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan to submit a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu. The delegation demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, raised concerns regarding voter roll deletions under Special Intensive Revision, and called for the reintroduction of paper ballots. Delhi Police set up barricades at Vijay Chowk and Raisina Hill, prompting sit-in demonstrations by MPs, while the Bharatiya Janata Party defended the security measures citing crowd control and pointed to recent by-poll election victories. In a subsequent segment, Bihar Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain speaks with Gaurav Sawant regarding reforms in higher education, institutional governance, and the deployment of the digital Samarth Portal across seventeen state universities to manage admissions and academic administration.
