Centre, Reliance Jio & Bharti Airtel Reject Elon Musk's Starlink Blocking Allegations | India Today
Details
Elon Musk's allegations claiming Starlink is being blocked in India by certain oligarchs have triggered strong responses from the central government and leading telecom operators. The Ministry of Communications defended its satellite spectrum allocation framework, stating that authorization processes are fair, non-discriminatory, and require uncompromising security clearances before spectrum allocation. Both Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel dismissed the monopolistic chokehold claims, noting that their own satellite ventures are navigating the same regulatory approvals. Reliance Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani stated the company remains focused on delivering home broadband solutions across India using an indigenous stack. Currently, Starlink, Reliance Jio Satcom, and Eutelsat OneWeb hold satellite communication licences in India and remain at broadly similar regulatory stages.
