The Trump administration is shifting the burden of tariffs on some Canadian goods ahead of U.S. midterm elections. Tariffs on plywood, refrigeration equipment and packing boxes are among those being repealed while new tariffs are being applied on new goods including Canadian carpets and canoes. Republicans are pulling out all the stops trying to retain power, including accusing Canada of election interference. Mackenzie Gray reports. Alberta’s premier is now facing a challenging few weeks as her party prepares for its annual general meeting. Danielle Smith gave her separatist supporters within the UCP an ultimatum earlier this week: move on from this issue or find another party. But two key figures are refusing to back down and as Heather Yourex-West reports, they are now gearing up for a fight. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Neyanyahu has ordered a full lockdown of the West Bank as well as the demolition of Palestinian homes after a deadly attack on an Israeli checkpoint. Two Israeli soldiers and two alleged gunman were killed in the ensuing gunfight. As Redmond Shannon reports, the attack comes just days before Israelis go to the polls to decide if Netanyahu is fit to lead them. As early voting continues across the U.S. ahead of November’s midterm elections, Democrats are increasingly optimistic about their chances of retaking control of Congress — even in Texas — a state Donald Trump won by 1.5 million votes in 2024. Now, voters might by about to elect a Democrat to the Senate for the first time in decades. Jackson Proskow reports.
