Description

US President Donald Trump scrapped plans to livestream the execution of the former Army major who killed 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009, overruling a proposal by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Thursday after it drew opposition from Republicans, religious leaders and the public.

While the livestream has been canceled, the families of the victims will still be allowed to witness the execution in person. Former US Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan is scheduled to be executed by firing squad on December 3, 2026, at Fort Hood in Texas.

Al Arabiya English journalist Wandiswa Ntengento reports on the latest developments.
