A 70-year-old woman experienced postmenopausal bleeding and sought medical attention, leading to the discovery of an ovarian tumour. Further evaluation confirmed ovarian cancer, requiring comprehensive surgical treatment. In this video, Dr. Pratima Raj, Gynaecologic Oncologist at Manipal Hospital, explains how timely diagnosis and advanced robotic surgery helped successfully treat the condition while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Using a robotic-assisted minimally invasive approach, the tumour was removed and cancer staging surgery was completed, including the removal of the uterus, lymph nodes, and omentum. Despite the complexity of the procedure, the patient recovered remarkably well, started oral intake on the same day, was walking the very next day, and was discharged shortly afterwards. Watch this inspiring patient success story to learn how robotic surgery can support faster recovery and better outcomes in ovarian cancer treatment.
