King's College London

For centuries, the exact location of William Shakespeare’s London home has remained a mystery. We knew it was in Blackfriars. But no one could say exactly where. Until now. Professor Lucy Munro from King's College London (King’s Arts & Humanities) has uncovered a 17th-century floor plan that finally pins the property to a single site. Just moments from the Blackfriars Theatre, the location places Shakespeare right at the centre of his working world. 💬 “This discovery throws into question the idea that Shakespeare simply retired to Stratford,” Munro says. With thanks to The London Archives and @ShakespearesGlobe Globe for helping bring this story and his legacy to life. Was this simply an investment… Or the London home where Shakespeare lived and wrote his final act? 👉 Watch to find out. -------------- Image referencing of The London Archives, City of London Corporation: Civitas Londinum Original map reference: SC/GL/CIL/001 Access via digital copies on the London Picture Archive (LPA) website Property plan of the parish of St Ann Blackfriars The London Archives reference number: CLC/522/MS14570/001
