Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam made five propositions for countries to reorient themselves in a world of radical uncertainty. In his lecture titled "Between Unipolar and Multipolar Worlds: Bridging the gap" — which was delivered at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) in Sweden — Mr Tharman explained why states that can act as bridge builders are critical, and that no world order is possible without US and China. He also touched upon the urgency of climate action and social compacts at home. 00:00 Challenge is to develop resilience for world of radical uncertainty 01:48 US-led unipolar world is past 05:32 States can act as bridge builders 09:44 How Sweden is a traditional bridge builder 13:27 No world order is possible without US and China 22:12 Urgency needed for climate action, next epidemic 27:03 Social compact in many countries is exhausted Subscribe to our channel here: https://cna.asia/youtubesub Visit our website: https://cna.asia Download our app: https://cna.asia/app Get our editors' picks of stories via chat apps: Telegram: https://cna.asia/telegram WhatsApp: https://cna.asia/whatsapp Follow us on these platforms: https://www.facebook.com/channelnewsasia https://www.instagram.com/channelnewsasia https://www.tiktok.com/@channelnewsasia
